Everyone is an artist!

If this was declared in front of a large audience, I bet a number of people would be raising their eyebrows or outright scoffing about now. It is true though; people may not recognize that the garden they tend to, the stories they write, the foods they cook, and songs they sing are all forms of creative expression. When it comes down to it, people who participate in creative expression make art. People who make art are artists.

Maybe a more believable phrase is:  Everyone can become an artist.

Artists aren’t born knowing how to be creative. Like science, art is based on process and learning. There are tools to familiarize yourself with, terminology to learn, decisions on what you are going to make and how you are going to make it. It all seems very intimidating, but the good news is that the art kit is designed to inspire creativity!

We provide materials and information about how to use the materials to get you started. Most importantly, we want to emphasize the importance of the person receiving the kit (you!). To inspire confidence and creativity, we encourage the students and teachers to look at their interests as the inspiration for art-making. Your interests, feelings, and thoughts are important to the creative process.
